F.A.S.T is a community based program that bridges the gap between firefighters and students by instilling the firefighter as a positive role model during the physical education class portion of the student’s weekly curriculum. The Professional Firefighters of Hampton IAFF Local 2664 achieve this by volunteering our time to visit each 2nd grade physical education class at CentreSchool once a month.
·F.A.S.T. allows students to see firefighters in a social and teaching role outside of emergency operations.
·F.A.S.T. opens lines of communication between students, parents , and firefighters
·F.A.S.T. will educate and involve students and parents in community based support programs such as MDA, Firefighter Burn Foundation boot drives, and the Hampton Firefighters Toy Bank.
·F.A.S.T. will instill a sense of community and an understanding of core firefighter values such as team work and community service.
